Ethnologists declare that certain soils produce certain types of men, just as they produce certain kinds of vegetation. They point out that while Ireland has always been noted for its orators, Spain and Portugal between them have given hardly one great orator to the world; and that while Scotland has never been famed for musicians, Poland has given birth to numerous wonderful musicians and composers.
