“SUNSHINE SUSIE.”

Opening at Civic on Saturday. Fresh from its remarkable records in all the capital cities of Australia, and equally notable seasons at Auckland and Wellington, Gainsborough’s British triumph, “ Sunshine Susie,” is now in Christchurch in readiness for the opening of the Civic as an All-British -Theatre on Saturday afternoon at 2.15. The gala performance will be screened at 8 p.m. “ Sunshine Susie’s ” season at Sydney was a memorable one, and the “Sydney Sun” said of it:—“Almost the nearest thing to flesh and blood attraction that the screen has achieved is to be found in 4 Sunshine Susie.' This English picture is most complete, most satisfying. 4 Sunshine Susie ’ combines all sorts of jolly devices in music and effects with an amazing human appeal. 'The musical comedy is set in a bank, and here gather the adorable Renate Muller, that great humorist and dancer, -Tack Hulbert, Owen Nares, to spice the '•omedy with romance, and Morris Harvey. A» soon as you have seen 4 Sunshine Susie ’ once you decide that you simply must see it again. It has none of the patently clever dialogue or situations with which the talkie adherent is all too familiar. A brilliant piece of work in production and acting, it shows no sign of overstrain on the part of anyone, so it flows joyously on to most joyous music.” The box plans at the theatre are filling rapidly.
