ELUSIVE PRISONER.

Jumped Into Arms of Constable. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, December 22. After being at liberty for a week, Allan Alfred Beehre, who escaped from the Whangarei lock-up, where he was held on a commitment warrant, was recaptured last night at the Public Works camp at Titoki. The hut in which he sought concealment was surrounded by the police. In attempting to get away, Beehre jumped through a window right into the arms of a constable. Charged this morning with being an incorrigible rogue, accused was sentenced to three months’ hard labour, concurrent with fourteen days’ for default of payment of a previous fine, and on the indictment for a breach of his probation order was convicted and discharged.
