BROADSIDING THRILLS.

Inter-Provincial Contest on Saturday. A programme of special Interest Is ta be presented at Monica Park Speedway on Saturday night when an Inter-provin-cial contest will be staged between teams representing Canterbury and Wellington. The teams will be strong and evenly matched and will be captained by Wally Kilmister (Wellington) and Charlie Blacklock (Canterbury). This team racing of four aside is the chief attraction of broadsiding in England, where it has been highly developed. The local riders and the Wellington men will have the benefit of the vast experience of their captains in this type of racing. Teams racing is exceptionally thrilling for the reason that the races are run by four riders from a rolling start. The keen competitive spirit enters into the thing and the result is that a high standard of racing is procured. Nothing can equal the sight of four fast riders going into a flying slide together nor the skill of the riders in working themselves into winning positions when travelling at full speed. An additional attraction will be the first of the series of races for the Chevrolet Gold Helmet. This week's race will be between Wally Thomas and Norm Gray. Both riders have demonstrated that they have any amount of ability and speed. Both have done creditable time on the track this sesaon and both have the latest in machines. It will be a good night's entertainment in itself to see these two riders race for the honours. Wally Kilmister is to make the first attempt on the track record thie season and it is confidently expected that he can do it. The track is in beautiful order and it is reported that his machines have never been better. ft will be a worthy attempt everyone may be sure. There will be the usual handicap events and these will provide keen competition, for never has there been so rapid improvement among riders ai there has been this season. Every week one rider seems to be a fresh discovery. George Parmer is reported to have secured a faster machine and with Wally Thomas, Norm Gray, Peter Phillips and the rest of the visitors keen competition should result. Patrons are reminded that It would be advisable to be early as with such a large programme every event will be of Interest. Special arrangements are made for the parking of cars in the speedway grounds. There will be 19 events and 17 rider*. A novelty event will give the programme the carnival touch.
