SMITHY’S VISIT.

Arrangements for Tasman Flight. NEW ZEALAND ITINERARY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 20. According to Mr Wilfred Kingsford Smith, who arrived from Sydney today to make arrangements for the’ visit of his brother in the aeroplane Southern Cross, one of the mystery passengers for the Tasman flight is Mr S. E. Neilson, secretary of the New Zealand Aero Clubs and Western Federated Aero Club. Mr Neilson leaves Auckland for Australia by the Monowai, on December 29. Mr Smith states that the Southern Cross definitely will visit New Plymouth, Auckland, Hamilton, Napier, Hastings, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Levin, Masterton, Blenheim, Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin and Invercargill. A number of other places will be visited if landing places suitable for a ’plane the size of the Southern Cross are available, but no definite decision will be made until an inspection has been made. Towns in this category include Whangarei, Dannevirke, Gisborne, Hawera, Hokitika, Alexandra and Gore. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith expects to be here till the end of February and it has been practically decided that he will then fly back to Australia. The Ninety Mile Beach has been provisionally chosen as the taking-off place.
