FORCED LANDING

Avro-Avian Biplane Damaged. Per Bresß Association. AUCKLAND, December 21. An Avro-Avian biplane, privately owned, was damaged in a forced landing near Mangere Aerodrome this morning. The pilot, Mr D. M’Nicol, of Dannevirke, had as a passenger Miss I. Gunn, of Taumarunui. The plane took off at 10 o’clock, but the engine stopped while it was still at a low altitude. The pilot decided to land in a nearby field. A landing wheel came off, and the plane plunged its nose into the ground. The damage was not extensive and both occupants were uninjured.
