TO-MORROW AT RICCARTON.

Bank’s Peninsula Racing Club has a Good Programme.

FIVE-SHILLING TOTALISATOR

In lieu of the fixture which was arranged for the Saturday before New Zealand Cup day, but which was abandoned owing to the effects of rain, the Banks Peninsula Racing Club will hold a meeting at Riccarton to-morrow. Two trots are included in the programme of eight events. A 5s totalisator will be in operation. and reduced admission charges should help to popularise the fixture. Racing will begin with the 1 p.m. OKAIXS TRIAL STAKES, of 63 sovs.

There are several debutants in this field, while Golden Dart and Lucky Dive have raced only once. Idolise and Lord Masham have shown pace. After having been cut out early, Gay Nita finished well in the Lagmhor Plate at Ashburton a fortnight ago. Delice was second and Grouse third in that event. Silver Sight was unplaced in the Rangiora Cup, but at the C.J.C. meeting early last month he was second in the Apprentices’ and third in the Stonyhurst Handicap, both being mile races. Polydora was second in the Winchmore Hack, six furlongs, at Ashburton on December 3. Polydora Grouse and Delice are a trio who are likely to appeal to backers. 1.35 p.m.

K AIT UN A HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP, of 80-sovs. One mile.

Monastic was unplaced in the Rangiora Cup on November 26. On the same -day at Riccarton, Xightguard was third in the High-weight mile, in which Pixie Gold and Elude were unplaced. Shelter shaped fairly, though unplaced, in the Trial Plate that day. Pacify was unplaced in the mile and a quarter Moreton Hack at Ashburton on December 3. At that fixture, Dorian looked to be unlucky in being only third in the Winchmore Hack, six furlongs. Dorian and Monastic may appeal to backers. 2.10 p.m. DUVAUCHELLE TROT HANDICAP, of 70 sovs. Class 3.7. One mile and a

Rey Direct is a capable filly who is certain to go a good mile and a quarter. Marvin Bingen has been doing

.veil in his work, and Ronald Derby has nly to begin to be handy at the finsh. 2.45 p.m. AKAROA HANDICAP, of 110 sovs. One mile and a quarter.

Red Heckle raced well at the New Zealand Cup meeting, at which he was third in the Fendalton Handicap and second in the Metropolitan. His track ; work since has been good. Ramo has i been disappointing this season. He was third over seven furlongs at Riccarton jon November 26, but made no show i in the mile Tinwald Handicap at Ashburton a week later. His stable companion, Night Flyer, was fourth in the mile and a quarter Rangiora Cup, but did not do so well over the same distance at Ashburton on December 3. Silver Ring offers a problem in himself. He shaped fairly in the Stewards’, but stopped in the Derby. His work has not given a great deal to go on since. Grecian Prince, in his three last outings, has recorded a first and a second over six furlongs, and a second over seven. Juniper ran a good fourth in the mile Tinwald Handicap at Ashburton. Red Heckle is likely to be the main fancy, while Silver Ring and Ramo may be backed against him. 3.20 p.m. HALSWELL HACK HANDICAP, of 73 sovs. Six furlongs.

Sharp thorn went poorly in the wet at Riccarton on November 26. The best of his recent performances was his second to Hurlingham in the C.J.C. Avon Handicap, seven furlongs, on November 9. Since winning at Ashburton in September. Niggerhead has been unplaced half a dozen times, and Water Polo has shown nothing since his surprise win over a mile at Riccarton in August. lan’s March. who was twice unplaced at the New Zealand Cup meeting, was third over six furlongs at Riccarton in August. Manetho won the Lagmhor Plate, five furlongs, at Ashburton on December 3. Verdun, who won twice on the West Coast in the autumn, is working well. Scarlet Pimpernel and Heather Glow are newcomers who show promise on the tracks. Helen Gold can also gallop in private. Reserve Fund is a promising filly who was fourth in the Oxford Hack, six furlongs, at Riccarton on November 26. Crash was third in that event, Grampian fifth, Battle Hero sixth. Natural seventh, with Eupator and Verdun further back. This is an open-looking race. Manetho, Verdun and Reserve Fund should find support. 3.55 p.m. LE SONS HANDICAP, of 75 sovs. Seven furlongs. Hurlingham 9 4 Riri 7 11 Wise Choice 8 6 Tip Tree 7 7 Monastic 7 13 Pakitere 7 7 Starshooter 7 12 * The consistent Hurlingham at his last start was successful in the sevenfurlong Fernside Handicap at Riccarton, with 8.9, on November 26. Monastic was unplaced in the Rangiora Cup. Riri, who has since changed ownership. was third in the C.J.C. Middleton Handicap, nine furlongs, last month, but ran poorly in the Suburban Handicap. Tip Tree won the mile High-Weight all the way at Riccarton on November 26. Starshooter was a good third to Cricket Bat and Concentrate over a mile at Ashburton on December 3. Wise Choice did not appear to relish the wet going at Riccarton on November 26. while she got away badly at Ashburton on December 3. Pakitere has not raced since July. Hurlingham has the best claims, while Starshooter and Tip Tree should have supporters. 4.30 p.m. LITTLE RIVER TROT HANDICAP, of 75 sovs. Class 3.41. One mile and a half. College Boy scr Ayr Lass 12 Dolly Derby scr Major Brent 12 Dolly Huon scr Radley 12 Golden Harvest scr War Officer 12 Harvestin scr Betty Ax worthy 24 Peter Parrish scr Dollar King 24 Rey let scr Happy Lass 24 Tuscan scr Little Nelson 24 Vagabond King ser Bingen Spiers 48 War Boat scr Elsie de Oro 48 Waving Corn scr On Ashburton form. Little Nelson' College Boy and War Officer should fill the places in the Little River Trot Handicap. 5.5 p.m. BRACK ENFIELD FLYING HANDICAP.

Several of the acceptors for the Brackenfield also hold engagements earlier in the day. Royal Sceptre was second in the Flying at Riccarton on November 26 to Grecian Prince, but turned the tables at Ashburton a week later. Importance won the Trial Plate, five furlongs, at Riccarton on November 26. On the same day Kakara was second in the High-Weight mile, Crash third in the six-furlong Oxford Hack, and Metal Bird second, after making the pace, in the Rangiora Cup. Denise won the Winchmore Hack at Ashburton on December 3, with Polydora second, while Crash and Piccard were unplaced. Rothen was third in a sixfurlong hack event at Washdyke on October 15. Royal Sceptre has a good deal more weight to carry than he had in his other recent races, but he will f>e a popular candidate. Denise and Metal Bird will also find support.
