Bright Frocks Make a Brilliant Spectacle.

Cup Day at Addington is always an. eargerly-anticipated event, and one that proves most enjoyable to the many trotting enthusiasts. It is a day when most city staffs, and even the chief, find urgent business out of the office. For the womenfolk the meeting makes a special appeal to their sporting instincts and the frocking sometimes plays only a minor part in the outing. To-dav, however, was one of the smartest meetings /or some time. Many particularly attractive summery frocks and chic suits were noticed, their vivid colours making a brilliant spectacle oil stands and lawn. The weather was ideal for the opening races and under a blue, cloudswept sky the large crowd gave themselves up to a good day’s sport. Mrs J. 11. Williams, wife of the president, wore a smart navy-blue crepe de chine frock with an ivory collar and a navy ballibuntl straw hat trimmed smartly with blue and white ribbon.

Her daughter, Miss Margaret Williams, was in a rust-brown and honeybeige patterned crepe de chine frock and a brown straw hat. Mrs C. M. Ollivier, wife of the vicepresident, wore a light navy crepe de chine frock and a wide-brimmed hat of darker blue with a navy and white band. Miss Lois Ollivier wore a delphblue and grey striped frock and a blue straw hat with a shady brim. Others present included:— The Mayoress, Mrs D. G. Sullivan, grey crepe de chine frock patterned in orange, and a black silk coat and black straw hat. Mrs O. S. Mrs Frank Scott, raspberry red finely patterned suit with a white crepe de chine blouse, deeper toned plaited straw hat. Mrs IT. P. Lawry, navy blue wool georgette frock, stone marten necklet, and navy straw hat with touches of red. Mrs J. A. Redpath, black satin frock patterned in wine and honey beige, and wide-brimmed wine Bangkok hat. Mrs Ernest Boulton, smart grey finely checked frock under black and white mixed tweed coat, white wool turban hat. Mrs Gerald Gerard, delph blue and beige spotted crepe de chine frock, and a beige stra<w hat with a shady brim. Mrs Derrick Gould, navy blue flecked suit, navy, white and black striped scarf, and a navy straw hat. Mrs Keith Ollivier, brown and beige patterned crepe de chine frock, brown coat and brown straw hat. Mrs Edward Turton, nigger brown wool frock with brown and white check trimmings and a brown felt hat. Mrs D. Crozier, black satin frock patterned in Nile green and grey, and a black Baku straw hat. Mrs Cyril White, nigger brown costume with a beige georgette vestee, stone marten necklet and brown celophane straw hat banded with beige and brown ribbon. Mrs F. A. Nixon, navy blue and white patterned wool crepe frfock and a navy straw bat. Mrs E. D. Mosley, nutmeg brown marocain suit, stone marten necklet and brown straw hat. Mrs J. S. Hawkes, black crepe de chine frock patterned in hyacinth blue and grey and a black straw hat. Mrs M. Osmond, black silk marocain frock spotted in white, navy wool crepe coat corded of red,’green and white, and a black straw hat. Mrs V. M’Kibbon, delph blue crepe de chine frock patterned in lemon and red, and a black straw hat and grey fox fur. Mrs Parrott, black, rust and beige spotted frock, black coat with touches of red and white and a black straw hat with cire ribbon. Mrs George Pascoc, golden brown flecked wool suit, brown and white striped scarf, and a brown felt hat. Mrs IT. H. Wauchop, black and white patterned suit and a hat. Mrs J. R. M’Kenzie, black and orange floral voile frock and coatee and a black transparent straw hat. Airs N. Wilkes, black cloth suit, ivory vestee and black turban. Mrs Aloss Ballin. raspberry red crepe de chine frock with pleated trimming of red and primrose stripes, small red felt hat. Mrs Arthur Rose, brown silk frock under a Persian rust wool coat trinjmed with fawn and white fur, and a brown straw hat. Mrs Frank Reading, Wellington, black cloth suit with Persian lamb collar and a small black straw hat with touches of white. Airs Roy Alatthews, smart navy coat with capelet collar, red and blue scan over pastel-shaded floral frock, small tagel sailor hat with two-toned corded ribbon band. Mrs A. J. Benzie, smart black crepe de chine frock with deep vandyked yoke of myosotic blue, black Baku straw hat and squirrel necklet. Airs Jack Hawkins, navy satin frock patterned in primrose and jacle, blackchip straw hat with narrow ribbon trimming of primrose and jade. Airs A. H. Rothenberg, black suit with pale carnation pink crepe de chine blouse, black racello straw hat with touches of pink. Airs W. Erasmuson, cocoa brown silk marocain frock, brown Bangkok hat banded in rust, beige and brown.
