One of the biggest slips in the Wairoa district was on the Wairoa-Waikaremoana Road, near Wairoa, where a bluff near the bank of the river came down bodily and obliterated the road. A gang of men was put on, and by throwing the debris into the river, the road was again open after two days’ work.
