Vr.l‘e '. Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. CANBERRA. September 16. The Prime Minister. Mr J. A. Lyons, answering Mr J. A. Beasley (Labour) in the House of Representatives, said that the Government had been watching: the operations of the Matson Steamship Line for some considerable time with the idea of protectin'? the interests of Australian and Empire shipping lines. The whole matter was very difficult but, until he had the report of the Ottawa delegates, who also had it under consideration, he could not disclose what action was being taken.
