An old-established gold mine in Ontario, Canada, culled the Dome, which has produced gold worth £ 10,000,000 since 1910, is still recovering on an average £1 10/ from each ton of ore treated. Occasionally, however, the miners come across a “pocket” of very rich ore of small extent, yielding much higher values. An instance of this has just occurred, the “pocket” yielding £B4OO. The ore was so rich that it was picked by hand, and packed in empty blasting powder boxes. One pile of these boxes, weighing altogether only three-quarters of a ton, yielded gold worth £5600.
