DAFFODIL DAY APPEAL.

Friday next, September 23, will be Daffodil Day, when the annual street appeal for the Christchurch Free Kindergartens will be made. Funds are badly needed this year in order that the committees may carry on this valuable work, especially as the Government has withdrawn its annual subsidy. Stalls for the sale of cakes, fresh food and flowers will be situated in Victoria Square, and the committee will be grateful for contributions to any one of these stalls. Bedding out plants are always in great demand. Five hundred collectors are required to sell badges on Friday and anyone willing to help is asked to write or phone Mrs J. R. Evans, ’phone 32-793.
