NEW STREET NAMES.

Waimairi Request for Retention. The Waimairi County Council met last night; present—Messrs T. O. Newnhain (chairman), C. K. Cross, NY. J. Walter, F. S. Scott, C. W. Moore, NY. <l. Chapman, (J. (iardner, J. Biggins, NV. Price and NV. P. Spencer. In regard to alterations to new street names, it was decided to Ji.sk the City Council to allow the name of Graham’s Road, Harewood, to be retained. It was pointed out that it was named after an old resident. The chairman stated that Graham’s Road, City, was also named after an old member and chairman of the Woolston School Committee. A return was supplied on the amount of money spent under the No. 5 scheme during the previous year. The largest items were: North Beach parking area £1487, Belfast Domain £247, Belfast Cemetery £223, Northcote Settlement £825, Ouruhia Park £566, Papanui Domain £lB7, Iliccarton Domain £152, Styx Pit £l5B, Stewart's Gully £486, Middleton Pit £l9B. In regard to the proposed Paparoa rjtreet bridge, a committee had met the representatives of the City Council and Drainage Board. An estimate for a 24ft bridge was £6O and the owner of the land offered to contribute £ls and the tenant £5. It was arranged that the City Council and Drainage Board should consider the question of each body contributing one-third of the cost. The Northcote Cricket Club risked that the Papanui Domain be put in order for cricket. Jt was left in the hands of Mr Chapman and the foreman An application from the Rieenrton I? .rough Council to dump rubbish in Middleton Pit was received and granted subject to supervision by the foreman. It was decided that a deputation, comprising Messrs NValter, Chapman and the chairman, wait on Messrs H. S. S. Kyle. M.P., and Mr R. NV. Hawke, M.P., in regard to alterations to the Impounding Act, also in regard to valuation of properties.
