AWARDS TO LAPSE.

Licensed and Private Hotel Employees. As no agreement was reached when the industrial disputes were before the Conciliation Council, two Dominion awards will expire on September 22 next. The awards govern the New Zealand licensed hotel employees, and the New Zealand (except Stewart Island) private-hotel employees. The Conciliation Commissioner notified the Clerk of Awards on August 22 that no settlement had been reached, and according to the provisions of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, the awards lapse one month after this notice has been given.

Both industrial disputes were heard at Wellington early this month. A “ Gazette ” notice intimates the termination of the awards.
