New Zealand Harrier Championship. OTAGO TEAM'S VICTORY. The New Zealand Cross-Country Championship, conducted by the Canterbury Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. at Hoon Hay this afternoon, was won brilliantly by J. G. Barnes (Otago) by fully two hundred yards from N. F. Cooper (Auckland). These runners took the lead at the start and led from end to end, each taking a turn at the pacemaking. Over the final stages the Dunedin man proved altogether too strong for his rival and was running away at the finish. E. C. Brown (Otago) was third. The first Canterbury man to finish was A. D. Park, who filled eleventh place. The teams’ race was won by Otago with 23 points, Wellington, with 30 points, being second. Detailed results were : J. G. Barnes (Otago), 37min 37sec .. 1 N. F.
