NEW ZEALAND UNLUCKY.

Final League Test Match Against England. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 22. The third test match and final game of their tour was easily the hardest that the English League team had to play in New Zealand. They were fully extended. and New Zealand were unlucky not to win. At. one stage of the second spell New Zealand were leading by sixpoints; but New Zealand tired against a heavier opposition. England scored the winning try right on time. The final score was: England 20. New Zealand 18. The game was very hard and willing, some of the English forwards being cautioned for rough play. The New Zealand men retaliated on many occasions. In the tight fists swung freely. Better combination and support for players in trouble won the day for England, but it was a close call and it was anybody’s game right to the end. The crowd of 12,000 spectators was very partisan, the Englishmen being continually hooted. Sullivan was jeered when running to take place kicks. The New Zealand side showed as a much improved team and on the play was a shade unlucky to lose. At the conclusion of the game the players joined hands in midfield and sang “Auld Lang Syne."
