FOR EVER AND FOR EVER.
The official list of disqualifications of the Victoria Racing Club begins with a case of fraudulent* practices at Glenelg ifi 1883, for which the parties named are out for life. Presuming that they are still on earth, they have served 49 years of their term. The Australian Jockey Club’s list begins with a case at a Parkes Jockey Club meeting in May, 1883, in which the parties concerned and the horse Old Jack, alias Jack Sprat, are disqualified for ever.” As the A.J.C. can scarcely expect Old Jack, alias Jack Sprat, to be still alive, it presumably is making sure that he will not race in that place whither bad horses go. The dual C.J.C. Grand National Steeplechase winner Wiltshire will be pained to know that a namesake was guilty of racing as Stockhorse at Tatura (Victoria) in 1924. He also is serving a life sentence.
