Mrs E. V. Howell, the wife of the former principal of the Christchurch Technical College, and later director of the Wellington Technical College, has offered a cup for public speaking to the Christchurch school, to be competed for amongst sturents and former students. The contest is to take place early next month, and will be on a subject dealing with international questions. Although Mrs Howell is a Quaker ,to whom silence is golden, she feels that speech is silver if it is well thought out and well expressed.
