The success of Guyziah was anticipated after his form at Ashburton. In the Grange Handicap Rascal and Mount Boa led First Raid to the back stretch, while at the end of three furlands, Pakitere, after getting off badly, had come to the front with Mount Boa, Rascal, Water Power and A 1 Jolson next.
