Essex —First innings, 256 (Pope 115), Hazell seven for 87. They followed 0n —125, Hazell five for 35. Somerset won by an innings and 74 runs. Northants—First innings, 89, Verity eight for 39; second innings, 113, Macaulay seven for 66. Yorkshire—First innings, six for 251, declared (Holmes 84). Yorkshire won by an innings and 49 runs.
Derby—First innings, 180, Fender five for 71; second innings, 166, Brown six for 45. Surrey—First innings, 88, Townsend four for 29; second innings, two for 23. Derby won on the first innings.
