Dr J. H. Rushbrooke will Journey to Dominion. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 1. Dr J. 11. Rushbrooke, D.D., Secretary of the Baptist World Alliance, has departed on a tour of Australia and .New Zealand on behalf of the denomination. He will fulfil a number i engagements in the interests of international peace. Dr Rushbrooke will attend the idennial meeting of the Baptist Union <>( Australia at Adelaide in August, afterwards visiting Victoria, New South Wales _ and Queensland. He will arrive in New Zealand in October to attend the celebration of the jubilee of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. Dr Rushbrooke is one of the outstanding figures in the Baptist Church, being known by his travels and his publications throughout the world. After a distinguished career at the Midland Baptist College, Nottingham 1 niversity College, London, Berlin and Halle Universities, he occupied several English pulpits from 1902 until 1920. when he became Baptist Commissioner lor Europe, a position he held until I q ‘2B. He was Eastern Secretary of the Baptist World Alliance in 1925 and T’resident of *’ Baptist Union of Great Britain and Inland in 1926-27. North and South America and Europe have all been visited by him on several occasions and he has made six visits to Soviet Russia. To him has been entrusted the handling of relief * uiids totalling £250,000 in Russia and other countries, while other funds totalling £90,000 have been administered by him. He has been a life-long champion of the rights of minorities, especially in regard to religous liberty.
