Selectors Choose Chief for Australian Tour. TEST PERFORMANCE DID IT. (Received June 29, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 28. The “ News-Chronicle ’’ says that the Selection Committee specially met and appointed D. R. Jardine captain of the M.C.C. team for Australia. His performance in the test was regarded as having consolidated his claims for the captaincy.
The Indians had little opportunity on a wearing wicket against the good bowling.
