REPLACEMENTS ALLOWED

Decision Made by Nelson Union. Per Press Association. NELSON, June 29. The action of the New Zealand Rugby Union in connection with the rules regarding replacements of injured players and not leaving the field at halftime was strongly criticised by the Nelson Rugby Union. It was decided, in view of the expression on those matters by delegates at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union, at which delegates were in favour of replacements, that the question should be deferred till the next annual meeting or be discussed at any special meeting which might be called, and that replacements be permitted in the meantime. Five members opposed the motion. A Press Association message from Invercargill states that the Southland Union made a protest against the rules, although accepting the mandate in the meantime.
