RELIEF TROT MEETING.

More Trophies Given. Arrangements for the Relief Trotting Meeting on Saturday, July 16, are well in hand and the event promises to be a success in every way. The executive committee handling the organisation met on Monday evening, those present being: Messrs T. G. Fox (chairman), G. S. Simpson, A. D. Tucker, R. W. Franks, G. R. Hunter and A. S. Mazey (secretary). It was reported that a license had been issued and satisfactory totalisator arrangements made. The St John Ambulance Association’s offer of the services of five men was accepted. An offer by the New Brighton Municipal Band to play at the meeting was accepted. It was reported that Mr E. E. LeLievre, of Akaroa, had presented a gold-mounted whip for the winning driver in the Commercial Travellers’ Handicap, and that Mr J. W. Trist would present a silver-mounted whip to the winning rider in the Patriotic Handicap. It was announced that the Commercial Travellers’ Association would join in the work of ticket selling, and that special efforts were being made in that direction. A meeting of the General Committee approved the work of the executive. Nominations close on Monday, July 4, at. S p.m., and handicaps will be declared on Thursday, July 7. The closing date for acceptances is Monday, July 11. A good programme lias been drawn up and entries are coming in well.
