ASHBURTON NEWS

Unsuccessful Attempt at Burglary. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, June 26. An unsuccessful attempt was made by burglars on Saturday night to force an entrance into Mr G. Currie’s general grocery store in the Triangle. The lock securing the swing doors at the main entrance was wrenched off, but the main lock was undamaged. Marks on the clasp and the doors showed that an mstrunment similar to a tyre lever had been used. Attempts had also been made to force a wooden door at the lower end of the shop, as twelve distinct marks have been left by the instrument used in a vain effort to force it open.
