PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mrs W. P. Robb, Christchurch, is visiting Auckland. Mrs R. Louden, who has been visiting Auckland, has left upon her return to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Taylor, Dunedin, who have been staying in Christchurch, have left for the south. Miss Mildred Cooke, Rugby Street, is the guest of Mrs E. J. Cordner, Rossall Street. Misses Bertha and Jessie Forbes, who have been spending some weeks at Cheviot, have returned to Wellington. Mrs A. Leslie Macfarlane, Fendalton, returned on Saturday from a visit to her aunt, Mrs C. E. Richardson, Wellington. Mrs W. C. Gee and Misses I. and C. Gee, Christchurch, are spending a few days at Godley House, Diamond Harbour. Miss Joan Murchison, Lake Coleridge, is spending a week in Christchurch as the guest of Miss Quita Cornder, Rossall Street. Merivale. The latest arrivals at the Hotel Federal include: Mr J. Irwin (Rakaia), Miss I. Durham (Ashburton), Mr A. Dormer, Mr R. Beater (Timaru), and Mr W. M’Clure (Akaroa). A resolution of sympathy with Madame Gower Burns in the death of her husband was passed at Saturday night’s meeting of the Society for Imperial Culture. Mr and Mrs T. Alexander, Ferry Road, will leave Wellington to-mor-row by the Maunganui, en route to England, where they will spend a year’s holiday. Eighteen applications for the position of matron at the Westland Hospital, to succeed Matron Strongman, who has resigned, were received by the Westland Hospital Board at its meeting on Thursday last, that of Sister Anderson, of Gore, being approved.
