Pedestrian Dies in the Hospital. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 26. Fatal injuries were received by John MTntyre, aged fifty-five years, of Dominion Road, when he was knocked down by a motor-car in Dominion Road shortly before eleven o’clock last evening. A constable heard a shout and saw a man lying near the tramlines. He was admitted to hospital with injuries to the head and a fractured jaw. He died this afternoon. The police subsequently arrested the driver of the car on a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car. He was admitted to bail in the sum of £SO. MTntyre arrived in Auckland only a few months ago. He was married and had one child, aged eleven years. He was a labourer.
