MAKING MORE TAXPAYERS.

British Official Wireless. RUGBY, June 1. It is provisionally estimated by the Treasury that recent alterations in the 'graduation of income tax renders 2,000,000 more persons chargeable with the tax in the present financial year. The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Major W. E. Elliott, who made this statement in the House of Commons, said that according to these provisional estimates the number at present actually paying tax was between 4,000.000 and 4,250,000 persons.
