Gatherings Held in Town and Country. FAREWELL PARTY. A pleasant afternoon was held recently at “ Lavington,” the residence of Mrs C. R. N. Mackie, Rolleston Street, North Linwood, when friends gathered to farewell Mrs F. Robson, who is leaving the district to reside at Lincoln. Elocutionary items were contributed by Mrs Beryl Windsor, and an interesting competition was won by Mrs Grigg. On behalf of the guests, a small presentation was made to Mrs Robson by Mrs Richardson. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess. Party at Cheviot. Mrs G. Brown was hostess at a pleasant afternoon party held recently in honour of Miss Seabee Mackay, who is shortly to bfe married. The hostess received her guests wearing a frock of blue crepe de chine relieved with fawn. The guest of honour wore a dainty frock of deep beige crepe de chine. Sunshine made the spacious verandah an ideal place for the competitions. Items were contributed by Mrs A. Elliot (song), Miss G. E. Morgan (piano solo) and Miss F. N. Orchard (monologue and recitation). The winners of the competitions were Mrs Williams, Mrs Honeybone, Misses G. E. McTgan and F. M. Orchard. Afternoon tea was served. Those present wore:—Mesdames G. Brown, D. Mackay, D. Morgan, J. Williams. A. M’Giffert, F. S. Wilson, W. A. Elliott. A. Elliott, M. C. Morrison, E. P. Honeybone. C. T. Powis, S. Clark-John-stone and C. Dalgety, Misses S. Mackay, A. Wilson, L. Elliot, F. M. Orchard and G. E. Morgan. Coming-of-age Party. A pleasant evening was spent recently at the residence of Mrs Harper, Mackay Street, Greymouth, in honour of the coming-of-age of Miss Myrtle Sweetman. During the evening Mr F. Sweetman presented the guest of the evening with the customary golden key. Dancing and games were indulged in, and an enjoyable time was spent.
