Appropriation of Petrol Tax. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 19. Protests against the Government’s appropriation of half a million from the petrol tax and against monopoly of petrol supplies were made at a meeting of the Dominion executive of the Farmers’ Union; and the following remit was carried: “That all funds collected by way of benzine tax should be utilised for the purpose of roading and reduction of rates, and not for any other purpose.”
