TRAM RAILS LIFTED.

Work in Manchester Street Resumed. The work of removing the tramway rails in Manchester Street which was held up while the tramway strike was in progress was begun this morning at 8 o’clock, about twenty-five men being employed. It is expected that the work will be completed by Monday next, when the City Council will be in a position to continue the reconstruction of the roadway in concrete and bitumen. There will be no tram or ’bus service in Manchester Street in the future; the cars to the railway station now proceed via Colombo Street.
