N.Z.-MADE GOODS.
Notice of Motion for City Council. The cessation of the importation of electric ranges is urged by Councillor A. E. Armstrong in a notice of motion which he has given for the meeting of the City Council on Monday next. The motion reads as follows: “Believing that the interests of the country can be best served by a policy of preference to New Zealand-made goods, the council instruct the Municipal Electricity Department to terminate at the earliest possible date the further importation of electric ranges, and in future to handle exclusively New Zea-land-manufactured ranges.”
A notice of motion by Councillor G. T. Thurston for the recission of Bylaw No. 368, which prohibits the distribution of handbills and dodgers in the streets of the city, will also come up for consideration at the meeting. The motion is being brought forward as a result of the recent prosecution of several men who distributed dodgers at a recent unemployment gathering.
