ATTITUDE OF TRUST.

Special Meeting Called To-day.

A special meeting of the Waimakariri River Trust has been called for this afternoon to consider the situation that has arisen as a result of the strike. Mr J. M’Combs, M.P., who arrived from Wellington this morning, said that he had arranged to confer with the trust this afternoon in the hope of reaching a basis of settlement for the trouble. He had looked into the position and found that there was a good deal of misunderstanding in connection with the matter, and when the position was fully discussed, he thought it should be possible to reach a settlement of the dispute. Mr M’Combs wifi leave for the north to-night.
