CAR HITS FENCE.

Mayor of Ashburton has Mishap. ACCIDENT AT SELWYN. The Mayor of Ashburton, Mr W. H. Woods, was returning from Christchurch about seven o’clock last evening when his car struck the end of a fence .on the .northern approach to the Selwvn Bridge. Several posts were displaced and the car turned over on its side. Mr Woods was accompanied by his wife and Mrs Henry Stephenson. With the exception of a severe shaking and minor abrasions, all escaped serious injury and proceeded to Ashburton in another car. The body of Mr Woods’s sedan car was badly damaged on one side, but it was taken to Ashburton under its -own power.
