The annual report of the New Zealand Rugby Union says that working expenses for the Near showed an excess of expenditure over receipts of £56 Is 7d. A donation of £550 was given to the Hawke’s Bay Relief Fund, and a grant was made to the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union of £492 Os 'lod for the rehabilitation of grounds. » The Australian tour resulted in a pro,fit of £952 16s 2d, and the North v. South game in a profit of £621 14s Bd. The Prince of Wales Cup contest resulted in a loss of £3SS 6s 9d, and the tour of the Maori team in the Steddon Shield districts cost the union £284 16s 7d. Loans were granted to the following unions during the year: Auckland £3500, inaddition to an existing loan of £1600; Otago, £2500; Wanganui, £SOO, part of £I9OO sanctioned, and in addition to an existing loan of £600; Canterbury, £4OOO, in addition to an existing loan of £1000; West Coast, , £3100; Manawatu, £1500; Southland, £500; Bush Districts, £250. Loans were approved but not settled to the following:—Wairrv.apa £2500; King Country, £600; North Auckland, £1500; Golden Bay-Moturka, £6OO. Other applications arc receiving the attention of the" committee.
