By a large majority the delegates to the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Rugby Union decided to instruct the delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union to vote . for retention of the two-three-two scrum formation. THE LEAGUE CODE. Centre Arranges for Opening of Season. The annual meeting of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Rugby Football League was held last evening, Mr Winter Cole presiding. The annual report stated that, although there was not such a marked improvement in the past season as in 1930, an advance was made both numerically and in the standard of play. The report of the Junior Management Committee stated that a high standard had been maintained in tlie lower grades. The Referees’ Association, although handicapped by its small membership, had done yeoman service. An appeal was made to retired players to take the whistle. Great interest attached to the visit of the English team and players, and the League code generally ought to benefit considerably. A sportsmanlike spirit had prevailed amongst members of the League, both on and off the field, and the game would benefit if that spirit were continued. Monica Park. The New Zealand League wrote stating that the Canterbury League did not control Monica Park in the football season, and it would be necessary to make arrangements for the hire of the ground at a reasonable rental. It was decided to join the Canterbury Sports Protection Association. It was decided to begin junior games on April 9 and senior on April 16.
