Grand National Won by Forbra. THIRTY-SIX HORSES START. (Received March 19, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 18. At the Liverpool meeting, the follow, ing was the result of the GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE. Of 50 soys each, with 5000 sovs added, including a trophy valued at 200 sovs; second horse 800 sovs, third horse SQO sovs, and fourth horse 200 sove from the stake; trainer of the winner to receive a cup valued at 50 sovs, and rider of the winner a cup valued at 25 sovs. For six-year-olds and upwards. Four miles and 856 yards. FORBRA, Mr W. Parsonage’s br g, by Foresight—Thymbra, 7yrs, 10.7 x EGREMONT, Mrs Ireland's ch g, by White Eagle—Queen Mother, Byrs, 10.7 3 SHAUN GOILIN, Mr W. H. Midwood’s ch g, sire’s pedigree unknown—Golden Ray, 12yrs, 12.4 3 Thirty-six horses started. Forbra and Egremant raced In company over three-quarters of the journey. They jumped the last fence together, Forbra beating off a strong challenge from Egremont by three lengths. Shaun Goilin was eight lengths away. Only eight horses finished. Grakle refused to jump one obstacle and Gregalach fell. The Prince of Wales and Prince George flew to Aintree this morning in their private aeroplane to witness the Grand National Steeplchase. There were no serious falls in the race. Exceptionally wide interest was taken in the race owing to the large sums offered in prizes. In connection with the Irish Hospitals Sweepstake it is stated that the English holders of sweep tickets in respect of the first three horses will receive a total of £645,000.
