M R lIORLER’S NAME is usually associated with thrillers, but for a change he has given us a comedy in “ Midnight Love,” a story containing many farcical situations and one which should act as a real tonic for- the blues. Oswald Twining, a struggling novelist, falls suddenly in love with Geraldine, the pretty daughter of a Dean, but the Dean’s wife places obstacles in the way of this romantic courtship and there is much discord at the Deanery. The fun was fast and furious when circumstances forced Oswald to arrange for the charlady, Mrs Clibbens, to act as his wealthy aunt. How Oswald sold for five thousand pounds the film rights of his novel, and how a famous film star made love to him is a riot of fun, but how he finds happiness and, after incredible complications, pleases Geraldine’s mother, makes a really laughable story. The characters are very human, particularly that of the jolly old Dean. What an excellent film story this would make, too.
