Officers Elected at Annual Meeting. The annual meeting: of the- Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held last evening. Mr L. R. C. Macfarlane presided over an attendance of nearly fifty members. The president said that the winter show, which had the entire endorsement of the association* must continue to grow. In spite of farmers being freetraders and manufacturers protectionists, the two, faced With much the same difficulties, had combined for their mutual good. It was hoped that next year the lambs entered for the Meat Board's competition would be nearer the weights most desired. “ Prime Canterbury ” to-day was only a myth, and farmers must work to retrieve the position. The disappointing financial position was in keeping with general economic conditions. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr W. J. Jenkins; vice-presi-dent, Mr C. G. Jarman; honorary treasurer, Mr J. O. M’Gillivray; general committee, Messrs John Brooks (Irwell), J. C. Chamberlain (Ellesmere), F. Coop (Ataahua), Gordon Fulton (Amberley), G. H. Grigg (Hororata), R. Gunn (Racecourse Hill), G. Hartnell (Culverden), David ft ones (Bryndwr), H. S. S. Kyle, M.P. (Riccarton), R. T. M’Millan (Irwell), W. W. M’Rae (Waikari), W. H. Nicholson (Sheep Owners' Federation), R. A. Oakley (Rakaia), H. Oliver (Hororata), R. Peach (Ashlev Bank), John Parlane (Halswell), J. Reid (Darfleld), W. O. Rennie (Doyleston), G. O. Rutherford (Culverden). T. A. Stephens Irwell), T. Stevenson (Spotswood), E. S. Taylor (Wc-odend), J. D. Wyllie (Sefton), and Colonel J. Findlay (Eiffelton); auditors, Messrs A.
