EASTER MARRIAGES.

Steady Demand being Made for Licenses. Despite the depression and talk of further w’age reductions, Cupid appears to be as active as ever in Christchurch. Easter marriages will again be popular this year, judging by the number of marriage licenses that are being issued by the Christchurch registry office. Ten licenses were issued yesterday, and at an early hour this morning two further applications were received, making the total for the month 69 to date. So far this year, 243 marriages have been notified, as compared with 282 at the end of March last year, 248 in 1930 and 319 in 1929. There were 80 marriages in Christchurch in January of this year, and 94 in February, and it looks as if these figures may be exceeded this month.
