COLLECTORS’ POINTS. Mr S. Jameson, chairman of the Street Appeal Committee, announced to-day that it has been found quite impossible to notify all collectors of the positions allotted to them. He asks that those who have not been notified should report to him at the City Council headquarters at the times they have offered to be available, when he will allot them their respective stations.

A charge against Ivy Alice Glassonbury of incurring a debt of 3s by fraud was dismissed by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day. I do not hesitate to say that the road to eminence and power from an obscure condition ought not to be made too easy, nor a thing too much of course. If rare merit be the rarest of all things, it ought to pass through some sort of probation. The Temple of Honour ought to be seated on an eminence. If it be open through virtue, let it be remembered, too, that virtue is never tried but by some difficulty and some struggle.—Burke.
