The value of demonstrations of resuscitation of the apparently drowned was emphasised by Mr W. 11. Benson, at a meetnig of.the Canterbury Surf Life Saving Association last evening, and he suggested that on competition days at the beaches demonstrations should be given. The matter was referred to a sub-committee. Mr Benson said that at New Brighton a man rescued a girl, but was too exhausted to carry out resuscitation. A youth was the only other person handy and he successfully undertook the task. The young man stated that he had never had lessons in resuscitation but had picked up the methods from demonstrations in life-saving competitions and thought he would “ give it a go ” when faced with a case.
