Territorial Prestige.
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —A correspondent has taken exception to my remarks upon Mr Jessett’s attitude toward a youth whom a local magistrate had advised to join the Territorial Force. I am sure Mr Mosley would never have suggested such a course had he known the character of the reception which his advice would receive, because the essence of character-building is sympathetic insight and understanding. Mr Jessett’s tone riled me, because none of us are immaculate, and the less we harshly judge others the better it is for us all concerned. “ Let him that thinks he standeth take heed lest he fall, and commiserate those that are fallen.” I have no recollection of quoting “ evening,” so there was no special significance meant in that direction.—l am, etc., DISGUSTED. The quotation marks were the correspondent’s.—Ed., “ Star.”
