ROBBERY AT HOTEL.
Two Men Plead Guilty to Charge.
THIRD DENIES ALLEGATION. Early on the morning of January 1 a daring robbery Avas carried out at the Club Hotel, Sydenham, when thieves stole the safe and its contents. This morning the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., the police brought a charge against three men. They AA*ere Arthur William Vincent Wilson, Leonard* Walter Downing and Stanley Gibbard Hazeldine. They Avere charged Avith breaking and entering by night the office of John Joseph Cotter, at 441, Colombo Street, and committing theft. John Joseph Cotter, Avho Avas employed as manager of the Club Hotel, said that £2OO, including about £4O of his own money, Avas in the safe Avhen it was stolen. DoAvning and Hazeldine stated that they found the back door open at the hotel and Avalked in and removed the safe from the office. Downing and Hazeldine pleaded guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, bail being alloAved in the sum of £IOO, Avith one surety of £IOO. Wilson, who pleaded not guilty, Avas committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was alloAved in the sum of £2OO, Avith one surety of £2OO.
