N.Z. SHOPPING WEEK.
Anticipations for Great Success. .ingements have been completed lor New Zealand Shopping Week, V hich is to be held in Christchurch from April 6to April 16. It is anticipated that the week will be the best of its kind ever held in the city. A committee is in charge of major arrangements, and this committee has been divided into sub-committees to deal with special matters. At a recent meeting- of the general committee, it was decided to offer certificates to scholars of the fifth and sixth standards in city schools, for an essay on New Zealand Shopping Week. All city retailers and manufacturers have been circularised regarding the details of the arrangements, and both sections are co-operating. The Christchurch City Council have agreed to lighting the streets with coloured lamps. Arrangements are in train -with the Boy Scouts of the city to parade the streets on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, to draw interest to New Zealand-made goods. The organiser reported to the meeting that a large number of prizes had been received from the manufacturers, to be awarded to winners in the shop window display contest. To make final arrangements in resrard to the displays, the sub-commit-tees will meet during the next fortnight.
