Opium in Parcel. —Wellington, March 15.—Discovering that a parcel addressed to a Chinese contained opim, Post Office officials communicated with the police, and when a Chinese claimed and was given possession of the parcel he walked right into the arms of a detective waiting outside for him. The parcel was addressed to R. Lum, care Peter Chan, and was posted at Auckland. The Chinese who collected the parcell, Kwok Dick Hing, aged 26, failed to prove he was in innocent possession, and a fine of £2O was imposed. Security for appeal was fixed at the amount of the fine, plus ten guineas.
