U.S. LIQUOR LAWS.

Congress has First Vote for Twelve Years. TRIUMPH FOR THE WETS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 15, 9.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, March 14. The House of Representatives voted 227 to 187 to-day against taking tip legislation designed to turn back the control of liquor to the States, the vote putting members on record for the first time for twelve years on prohibition revision. The vote was taken on whether to discharge the judiciary committee from jurisdiction over the Beck-Linthi-cum resolution for amendment of the Eighteenth Amendment and the votes commanded by the anti-prohibitionists were even larger than many of them expected. The success of the antiProhibitionists in securing a roll call is a considerable triumph for the wets.
