Mr J. C. Young (Palmerston North) is at the Clarendon Hotel. Messrs R. 11. Henderson (Dunedin) and Y. A. Greaves (Hawke’s Bay) are staying at the Ro\-al Hotel. Mr A. E. White was re-elected president of the Merivale Football Club at the annual meeting last evening. Messrs J. H. Ford. R. W. Uren and H. X. Xorton (Wellington), A. Gray and W. Jones (Dunedin) arc guests at the New City Hotel. Mr D. Mac Gibbon has been appointed engineer at the municipal abattoir j out of seventy applicants for the posi- j tion. Messrs W. Morton. H. G. Williams, j J. Coates, W. Anderson and J. Brunt , ‘ Wellington) and B. C. Jacobs (Auck- ! land) are staying at the United Ser- j vice Hotel.
Messrs S. W. Moscrip (Hamilton), J. L. A. Reeves (Melbourne), J. C. Brown and P. Weston (Wellington) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. In the House of Representatives yesterday Mr M. J. Savage (Labour, Auckland West) was granted five days’ leave of absence on account of continued illness. The Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) has asked Councillor F. T. Evans, a former president of the Canterbury Rugby Union, to represent him at the Sydenham Football Club s jubilee function to-morrow evening. Messrs 11. Worrall and F. M. Robson have been appointed to represent the Canterbury Trades’ and Labour Council at the annual conference of the Trades and Labour Federation in Wellington at Easter. Mr Robson has also been appointed to attend the Labour Party conference which opens on Easter Monday. Mr J. Moody, who has resigned the position of organiser of the All Nations Fair, on his acceptance of an appointment at Invercargill, was the guest of the Mayor and Mayoress yesterday morning, the chairmen of the various sub-committees of the fair also being present. The Mayor made eulogistic reference to Mr Moody’s activities in the promotion of the All Nations Fair, his remarks being supported by other speakers, after which he handed Mr Moody a letter expressing the thanks of the citizens of Christchurch for his services in the efforts to relieve distress. At the annual conference of the United Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association of New Zealand, held in Wellington last week, officers for the ensuing 3-ear were elected as follows: President. Mr G. Watson (Christchurch) : honorary treasurer. Mr H. H. Wauchop; auditor, Mr 11. Bicknell; third member of the board of management of the accident and sickness fund, Mr W. A. Drake: members of the board of management of the New Zealand Traveller, Mr W. A. Drake and Mr S. A. Orchard. The venue of the next conference was fixed for Christchurch.
