LOS ANGELES, March 3. An action for £IOO,OOO damages, for alleged breach of promise of marriage, is being brought by Ilarionuki, a Japanese prima donna residing in Hollywood, against “ Believe-it-or-not ” Robert Ripley-, the American cartoonist, who recently visited Auckland on the Mariposa. “What’s that? Say it again! ” exclaimed. Ripley, when the cable message was read to him at Sydney, and when it w-as repeated he.smiled. "Blackmail, purely blackmail,” he said. "There is no basis or gs.’nd for anything like that at all. Believe it or not. Well, I’m not going to worry over 1 that bit of news,” he said, laughingly-, j as he hurried to his car to visit an old friend.
