A LARGE HAUL.

Burglar Steals £6O Worth of Frocks and Linen. ROBBERY AT PAPANUI. FrockSj underclothing and linen valued" at £6O were stolen from the home of Mr and Mrs E. Middleton, 61, Halton Street, Papanui. on Saturday evening by some person or persons who broke into the house while the owners were away. There was nothing to show how the burglary was effected. Before going out at 5.30 p.m. Mr and Mrs Middleton locked all doors and windows and when they returned at 11 o’clock the house was still in that condition. They were first made aware of the theft by the discovery of a number of papers and eoathangers scattered over the floor of the bedroom. A number of frocks were missing from the wardrobe, and the linen press was emptied of the major portion of its contents. A small attache case, which had contained business documents belonging to Mr Middleton, had been emptied of its contents, and was apparently used by the thief for the removal of some of the goods, for it was among the things missing from the home. A large cardboard hat box was also removed. In this box Mrs Middleton usually kept a valuable fur, but. by a stroke of good luck she omitted to do so on Saturday evening. Through leaving it in another room which was not entered by the burglar Mrs Middleton still has her fur. A fairly large sum of money was passed over by the thieves.
